Session Description
Long-term records are essential for understanding environmental change and the combined effects of climate and land use on vegetation. Pollen and tree-ring data provide complementary insights into past land cover, vegetation dynamics, and climate variability. Integrating these proxies enables a better assessment of vegetation responses to temperature shifts, drought, deforestation, and land-use intensity. This session aims to foster collaboration between the pollen, dendrochronology, and other proxies such as documentary records, and broader environmental research communities. We welcome interdisciplinary contributions on pollen and dendrochronological data, as well as on archaeological and historical reconstructions, plant responses to climate change, and innovative modeling approaches that integrate vegetation, climate, and land-use data across spatial and temporal scales.
