Session Description
Communicating Quaternary Science beyond academia is both a challenge and a necessity. As this field offers crucial insights into climate change, landscape evolution, and human-environment dynamics, its relevance to today’s societal debates is undeniable. As such, impactful dissemination becomes key to making Quaternary topics more relatable and compelling to non-specialists and to help solve problems in community issues, environmental policy, land use planning, and cultural heritage management. This session explores how Quaternary researchers can engage diverse audiences and make complex findings accessible and meaningful through the use of traditional, digital and experimental media, and how storytelling tied to landscapes, heritage, and long-term change can help in bridging the science-society gap. We invite contributions on outreach strategies and educational initiatives, stories of co-creation with communities, and insights on the impact and responsibilities of public engagement.
