Session Description
Magnetic techniques are powerful tools in geosciences, providing high-resolution insights into Earth’s climatic, environmental, and tectonic evolution. The magnetic methods help to reconstruct climate shifts and temporal framework, surface processes, strain fabrics, anthropogenic impacts and in decoding geomagnetic field behaviour. This session brings together palaeodata, experimental, and modelling communities to explore advances in magnetic proxy research during the Quaternary, highlighting their role in reconstructing past Earth system processes and informing future predictions. The session encourages submissions on: (a) Environmental Magnetic Proxies: Applications in Paleoclimate reconstruction, Sediment provenance and Pollution assessment Studies, (b) Palaeomagnetic, Magnetostratigraphic and Magnetic Fabrics approaches for Stratigraphic Correlation and Sediment dynamics, and (b) Archaeomagnetism: Reconstructing ancient Geomagnetic Fields and its application in archaeology and climate variability
