Session Description
Marine ecosystems are increasingly impacted by pollution, plastic waste, invasive species, and climate change. These pressures threaten biodiversity and ecosystem functioning. This session explores how paleontology and conservation biology can jointly inform marine environmental management and conservation policy. We invite studies on marine organisms' responses to environmental change, distinguishing natural variability from human impacts, defining ecological baselines, and strategies for biodiversity and ecosystem restoration. Contributions using high-resolution sediment records, cores, outcrops, meta-analyses, or modeling are welcome. This session aims to display diverse methodological approaches and foster interdisciplinary dialogue to support marine conservation in a changing world.
