Session Description
India’s cultural and geoheritage is deeply rooted in sacred landscapes, memory’s capes, and human– environment interactions shaped over millennia. From megaliths and rock art to fossil-rich terrains and sacred rivers, these landscapes embody evolving ideas of place, ritual, and knowledge. As these sites face growing threats from development and climate change, this session invites interdisciplinary reflections on preserving and reinterpreting them. Through geoarchaeology, ethnography, digital tools, and community engagement, we aim to explore how heritage thinking evolves - and how sacred and scientific values can be integrated for future stewardship.
