Session Description
The Polar North is experiencing climate warming and Arctic amplification, with pronounced consequences for globally-linked Earth systems. Consequent change impacts societies extending far beyond the High Arctic. Focusing on high latitude terrestrial interstadial and interglacial records from the previously-glaciated Polar North, this session brings together a wide range of disciplines, proxies, and archives to explore potential analogues for rapid 21st century warming and a forecasted future hotter Arctic. The session encourages presentations from a wide range of topics that help further advance our understanding of circum-Arctic warm intervals and that advance our understanding of specific previously poorly studied analogue events. We welcome multi-/interdisciplinary perspectives across (but not limited to) geomorphology, stratigraphy, sedimentology, geochronology, sea level studies, and palaeoenvironmental reconstructions.
