Session Description
This session seeks to explore the long-term trajectories of technological innovations, land use, and subsistence strategies from the hunter gatherers to early farming communities. It aims to examine how hominins responded to climatic changes, ecological variability, and landscape transformations during the Quaternary period through technological and behavioural adaptation. Focusing on toolkit innovations (bifacial, Prepared core, Laminar, and polished tools), this session invites contributions that deal with primary data on technological changes, landscape adaptations, mobility patterns, resource exploitation, and socio-cultural organisation from Lower Palaeolithic to Neolithic. We invite interdisciplinary contributions and comparative studies engaging broader debates. By situating technological innovations and land-use strategies within the broader context of Quaternary climatic dynamics, this session seeks to explore the resilience, adaptability, and ingenuity of past human populations over deep time.
