Session Description
Asia preserves the earliest and largest Palaeolithic evidence outside Africa, including both lithic artefacts and hominin remains, which are essential for understanding early human dispersal. The technological diversity in Palaeolithic Asia indicates multilinear regional evolution within the diverse landscape. In addition to lithic remains, the sedimentological data may help answer several cultural questions. The integration of methods ranging from absolute geochronology to geomorphology and the geoarchaeological context of these sites is a matter of debate among archaeologists. This session aims to contribute to the long-standing question of contextualizing Palaeolithic sites in Asia, which may inform the debate on the Out-of-Africa theory. This session invites abstracts on recent studies in geoarchaeological approaches in Palaeolithic archaeology across the diverse geography of Asia.
