Ajaypur lake is 70 km away from Sitapur headquarters. To reach here, you will first have to reach Reusa block headquarters via Biswan. Then after walking 10 km on Tambaur road from Reusa, you will have to travel 5 km on Kashipur-Mallapur Road, right from Bhithauli intersection. From here, there is Shalpur connecting road on the right turn, on which after traveling 1.5 km you will reach the lake. Ajaypur Lake serves as an example of natural river dynamics in the Ganga Plain, showcasing the impact of geomorphological evolution on the landscape. Ajaypur Lake was created due to fluvial geomorphic processes, primarily river meandering and cutoff events. Over centuries, sediment deposition and channel migration led to its isolation from the main river, forming a stagnant water body. As a remnant of an ancient river system, the lake serves as a biodiversity hotspot, supporting aquatic flora and fauna. It plays a crucial role in local hydrology by acting as a natural reservoir for rainwater and groundwater recharge.
