Constructed in 1784 by Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula, the Bara Imambara, also known as Asafi Imambara, is a grand complex serving as a congregation hall for Shia Muslims. The main hall, measuring 50 by 16 meters with a height of over 15 meters, is renowned for its arched construction without supporting beams. The complex also houses the Asfi Mosque and the Bhulbhulaiya, a labyrinthine network of passages with 489 identical doorways, making it a unique maze in India. Located within the Bara Imambara complex, the Bhulbhulaiya is an accidental architectural marvel resulting from the need to support the weight of the building constructed on marshy land. This labyrinth has 1,024 ways to reach the terrace but only two to return, offering visitors a thrilling experience. The Tilewali Masjid, also known as Teele Wali Masjid, is a prominent mosque in Lucknow's Old City. Situated on a mound, which gives it its name ('teela' meaning mound), the mosque is an example of Mughal architecture with its domes and minarets. It serves as an important place of worship and a historical landmark in the city. It represents the highest elevation point of Lucknow.
