Session Description
Archaeological heritage is a unique record of human history and the landscapes we inhabit. Today, it faces growing threats from both human activity and increasingly intense natural hazards linked to climate change and environmental transformation. This session invites a multidisciplinary discussion on the challenges and innovations in safeguarding archaeological heritage, focusing on sustainability, risk management, and new methodologies. Topics include the use of digital tools (photogrammetry, remote sensing, 3D modelling), community participation, and interdisciplinary approaches that support preservation, education, and access. By uniting researchers, professionals, and policymakers, the session aims to foster dialogue and share strategies for protecting heritage in the face of current and future risks. We welcome papers on case studies, theoretical reflections, and practical experiences related to natural hazards, sustainable management, digital technologies, education, and community involvement.
