Session Description
The session focuses on advances in paleoclimate and paleoenvironmental reconstruction using lacustrine systems as high-resolution archives of Quaternary change. We welcome contributions from geochemistry, sedimentology, paleobiology, and modeling, highlighting both traditional and innovative methods. Approaches such as clumped isotopes, biomarkers, and AI-based multi-proxy integration are especially encouraged, alongside stable isotopes, lithostratigraphy, and microfossil analysis. Case studies from diverse regions, particularly those capturing abrupt events and transitions, are welcome. Emphasis will be placed on methodological innovation, cross-disciplinary integration, and assessing strengths and limitations. By fostering dialogue among disciplines, the session aims to improve interpretation of lake records and contribute to integrated reconstructions of past environments, supporting INQUA’s goals of understanding Earth’s Quaternary history and anticipating future changes.
