Kukrail Reserve Forest, situated approximately 9 kilometers northeast of Lucknow's city center, is a verdant expanse developed by the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department. It serves as both a conservation area and a recreational spot. The forest is renowned for its Gharial Rehabilitation Center, established to protect and breed the endangered gharial species. Visitors can observe these unique crocodilians in a semi-natural habitat. The area also offers well-maintained picnic spots, walking trails, and children's parks, making it a favored destination for families and nature lovers. The Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP) is a premier research institution under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). Established in 1959 and headquartered in Lucknow, CIMAP focuses on the research and development of medicinal and aromatic plants. The institute's objectives include coordinating national efforts in the cultivation and utilization of these plants, developing agro-technologies, and extending support to farmers and entrepreneurs. The institute has been instrumental in releasing improved plant varieties and promoting India as a global leader in mint production.
